Organic Grains & Cereals

Organic rolled oats are manufactured from seeds which have been cleaned, dehulled, kilned (lightly roasted), steamed and flaked. Oats have B vitamins, proteins, phosphorus and iron. Quick cook oats are thinly sliced having them cook in 5 minutes, rather than 15 – 20 for regular rolled oats. Perfect for a hot breakfast cereal, baked goods - like cookies, or even to thicken soup. Inari rolled oats come in 250g bags and 50lb bulk packs.

Organic quinoa (keen-wa), although you may find it hard to pronounce, it’s not hard to prepare or enjoy! This gluten free seed grain has a uniquely nutty flavour that is great as a side dish or a perfect addition to your main dishes. The real importance of Quinoa are it’s contents of minerals, vitamins and proteins, as they are better than compared to other grains. Inari quinoa comes in 300g, 1kg, and 25lb bulk packs. Also look for our Inari organic quinoa flakes which are roller – flattened whole, hulled grains. Due to possible contamination at this stage, unfortunately they can't be guaranteed gluten-free. Use for muesli or cook for porridge, and ask for our 300g bag.

Organic fine whole wheat bulgar is the same as cracked wheat except it cooks faster. It has been par boiled, dried and cracked. Enjoy this nutty taste as an ingredient in tabouli salad, pilaf, soups, baked goods, stuffing or casseroles. You can also use bulgar in recipes calling for converted rice (and it’s more nutritious than rice) It is an ideal food in a vegetarian diet because of its nutritional value and versatility. It is excellent as a meat extender or meat substitute in vegetarian dishes, and is a component of many varieties of meatless burgers found on supermarket shelves everywhere. Look for our Inari fine whole wheat bulgar in 350g and 25lb sizes.

Organic millet (hulled) is a mild, digestible grain often as baby food and by people on wheat free diets. It is creamy in color, round and small - about one third the size of a peppercorn. It is a complete protein and rich in lecithin & calcium and high in fiber. Ask for our 500g and 50lb packs.

Organic yellow popcorn is a whole grain food, which makes it a high-quality carbohydrate source that is not only low in calories, but a good source of fiber. This means it takes longer to chew and makes you feel full longer. Compared to many snack foods, popcorn is low in calories. Air-popped popcorn provides only 30 calories per cup. When oil-popped, it contains only 55 calories. Even drizzled lightly with butter, it's only 90 to 120 calories per cup. Look for Inari Popcorn in 500g bags and 25kg bulk packs.

Organic potted barley (hulled), also called scotch or hulled barley, this was one of the first crops cultivated by man, and has been used as a food since Biblical times. Today, barley is still considered an excellent source of soluble fiber. Barley contains fiber, protein, carbohydrates and B vitamins. It's low in fat and has no cholesterol. Because of its neutral flavor, it's easy to blend barley's nutrition and texture into a variety of foods. May be baked in casseroles, used as stuffing, or pureed for cereal or pudding with maple syrup, cinnamon and dates. This is the least processed form of barley, with just the outermost hull removed. The grains are brown and require 1-1.5 hours cooking time. Ask for Inari potted barley in 500g and 50lb bags.

Organic pearled barley, pearled means lightly milled, or refined, to remove part or all of the germ and bran, but retains its endosperm (a substance which inhibits cholesterol formation). Pearled barley has a mild flavor and is chewy, less nutritious than whole barley. Once cooked, it can be used in salads, to thicken soups, broths or stews or for stuffing. Pearled Barley is the most commonly available barley. It does contain small amounts of gluten. Look for our 500g bags and 50lb bulk packs.

Organic buckwheat groats (white) (which is not part of the wheat family) is actually a grass that produces a seed that is 3-D triangular in shape and has a black hull. The hull has been removed in this grain leaving it a greenish yellow color. It can be ground into flour or cooked whole. A mild flavoured favorite addition to casseroles, soups and stews or cooked like other grains, as a pilaf- or risotto-style side dish. Cooked buckwheat groats can also be used in salads somewhat like bulgur, semolina, pearl barley or rice. Ask for our 500g and 50lb packs.

Organic roasted buckwheat groats (kasha) is buckwheat that is toasted to a deep amber, and can be used the same as raw white buckwheat as a great addition to many dishes. Look for Inari Organic Roasted Buckwheat Groats in 500g and 50lb bulk bags.

Organic couscous is durham wheat semolina granules which are mechanically mixed (agglomerated) with water, shaped into a rotating drum roller, steamed, then oven dried, giving the delectable tiny pasta. Boil in water, and fluff with fork, for a quick and easy meal addition. Use in meals instead of potatoes, pasta or rice. Ask for our Inari Couscous in 500g, 800g and 25lb bags.

Organic whole wheat couscous made with whole grain durum wheat flour, so it retains the bran and germ of wheat. It cooks just as quickly as the regular varieties and has a rich nutty flavor. Inari Whole Wheat Couscous comes in both 500g and 25lb sizes.
